I have recently picked up a couple of tours that took place in 2019. Both on bikes but nevertheless take a comprehensive view of how and where to tour in the Alps.
The first is trip starting and ending in Munich where you hire BMW motorbikes from the local garage and they help you with tour route. BMW Motorad Zentrum Munich.
The second is group from the UK that take 13 days to tour the Alps and around 20 passes. They stay in 10 hotels. The Europe element is just under 3,000 km (around 1875 miles in real money). If you can handle the bike moves (it makes my wife giddy just watching) they are comprehensive guides with some good ideas for stop overs and hotels.
The Klausen Pass looks amazing. It features in both tours. The Old Hotel (Klausenpasshoehe) is being replaced and a new hotel will open in 2021. Well worth a look.
PCGB Region 7 put up a great article in October 20 on 4,000 mile grand tour going to Sicily and then back through Italy, into Austria and Germany.
I have reproduced here, on the just click to get your linked pdf article.
